Sorry I got behind with m big St. Patrick's Day event last week however, I'll have some pictures up soon!

Day 06 -A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day

There would be 2 people I would love to trade places with. Both of these women have established themselves within their category of work of floral and architecture. Their passion and innovation for design truly inspire me. I was fortunate to be able to view Maya Lin's exhibit while it was Seattle. It was completely breath taking. I hope one day to take a trip over to England and take one of Jane's workshops.

Day 08 - A picture that makes you laugh. There are so many pictures of Deacon that make me laugh but these 2 top the list.

Day 09 - A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most. My sister. The is the glue to our family. She's the most incredible and patient person I know!

I'm horrible about writing about myself. I've been seeing more and more people on Facebook take up the 30 day photo challenge. So rather then a bio I thought I would take up the photo challenge myself and give you an opportunity to get to know a little more about me and P E T A L O S.

So here it goes . . . .

Day 01 - A picture of yourself with ten facts

I was born in Okinawa, Japan. Yes, I was a military baby and no I'm not fluent in Japanese. I wish I was though.
I love crafting things with my own hands--drawing, model making, painting and of coarse, flower arranging. I dream of learning how to sew but the sewing machine scares me
I have a Bachelor of Science in Architecture
I'm an avid CAR-eoke singer--not be to confused with kareoke. Within the confinement of my car I like to belt out a note or two. . .haha I'm not a great singer hence, why I sing in the car.
I LOVE my friends and family and would do absolutely anything to make sure they're safe and happy
I LOVE big hair! I'm currently growing my hair out :) Sometimes I think I should live in Texas to be amongst other big hair people.
I LOVE music and any kind of music. I classically played the oboe for 8 years . . .and yes, I was in band in high school. I admit I was a nerd and proud of it :)
I LOVE the outdoors and all outdoor recreations --hiking, snowboarding, surfing and especially rock climbing. I wish I had more time to do them more often.
One of my bucket list items it to sing the national anthem at a national football, soccer, basketball or hockey stadium to conquer my fear of stage fright.
Motherhood was the best gift I could ever ask for.

{Perfect Wedding Guide Bridal Show . . .}

Even though it's late I just had to do a quick write-up about my experience at the Perfect Wedding Guide Bridal Show today. It was my FIRST {yes, my first} bridal show and I had such an incredible time. I met so many fun brides and some pretty incredible vendors.

It was incredible that PETALOS {floral design} had arrangements featured at the tables of Green Chair Studio, Anne Adams Photography, AniA Collection and Gather. It was such an honor to be able to do this for everyone and make each arrangements specific to each companies brand.

Now about the bridal show:

Monica and Katie from GATHER did such a great job with the event. Everything ran so smooth and their contribution to the event was priceless! If you're looking for a wedding/event coordinator their the ones to hire!

The cakes and appetizers from PAPA HAYDN's were so DELICIOUS . . . my mouth is watering just think about their cakes and especially the bacon wrapped dates with cream cheese. {YUMMY!}

If you didn't attend, you completely missed out! The gowns were gorgeous! The fashion show featured Augusta Jones and Nicole Couture Gowns from AniA Collection. Hair and make-up were provided by AJ Lane and Urbanista Weddings. And {ALL} the bouquets were crafted from no other than PETALOS {floral design}. . .I cannot wait to show you detailed photographs of all the bouquets.

Here's a picture of my booth. Cell phone picks aren't the greatest but I wanted for you all to get a glimpse of some of the pieces I put together. I cannot wait to show you the rest!

not really through a look glass just through a window that's in the space. i'm so excited because chase has been working on my carbon-steel table bases that will support both door panels. along the LONG wall is where the home of PETALOS logo will reside. also, the lucky color that won was the misty sea-glass. everyday that I walk into the studio it's such so refreshing it really cheers me up {hopefully it's the same effect clients will get when they walk into the space).

it's coming, PETALOS a store near you! after much deliberation i've decided to take the plunge and move into a moving space. however, moving and getting things situated is much of an understatement. today we spent the day sweeping, organizing, building and of coarse, the rest of my things into the studio. chase and i build an awesome "prep" table from an antique table and a salvaged sink. i'm going to an industrial/antique look if that's even possible. . it was such a hot day today but luckily the building is primarily built out of concrete so it keep the studio pretty cool. i cannot wait to post pics to show you all how it's coming along. . .

it has been a really exciting for me lately -- i'm booking more weddings and people are getting to know more and more about PETALOS (which is SO exciting). recently, i got invited to take part of the perfect wedding guide bridal show. i was asked to provide some bouquets for the fashion show that will be taking place during that bridal show. ania collection, in portland, or, will be providing the dresses for the event and all of their gowns are GORGEOUS!

things are really turning around and i cannot wait to see how things to progress in the future.

life has been extremely busy lately--deacon teething, my dad going through surgery and working on my business. and then, on top of all that trying to maintain a clean house to provide me some sanity. but i have some very exciting news though . . .i just signed up to be part of theknot.com. i think this will really help me get my information out there. it was amazing to find out there were only 2 other florists registered with theknot.com for Oregon. it'll be real exciting to see how things work out once my page goes live on 4/28 {keep your eye's open} facebook and friend referrals have helped out extremely but, i'm just the type of girl who like to stay busy (even with everything else going on).

this past thursday, i had a great opportunity to put together arrangement for our dear friend brenden from fez studio. with the alice in wonderland theme, inspired by the new collection by paul & joe, i put together my take on the mad hatter top hat {floral-ized}. . .haha i doubt that's even a word.

it was such a blast attending the event! i cannot wait for his next event

REALLY nervous at the same time. valentines day is the one of the biggest floral days of the year and if i have a few orders come through this will really tell me that my name is getting out there. i know i'm not going to be huge RIGHT AWAY but i really want people to know that i'm out there. last night I attended my first bridal show. it was quite interesting as I had never attended to one before. it's mayhem but i felt regenerated--ideas of the future and being part of the fall show and other ways i can market my business. it's quite exciting becoming a new business owner. scary at times but i LOVE flowers.

i hate letting great flowers go to waste. i made a small hand bouquet and later displayed with in small vase for people to enjoy. i wish there was a way for you all to smell this bouquet because smells FABULOUS!

here's a quick and easy tip to add a little flare to your bridesmaid updo . . .using feathers. it's a great way to add style and texture to a simple updo.

all you have to do is go to your local craft store. you can find feathers packaged in a bag or go into the floral department and you can find feathers that are already wrapped together.

better yet, if you're feeling extra crafty, make a headpiece from silk flowers and sewing some feather piece to it. below is a sample of what I made for my flower girl.
